The Artist's Goals and Philosophy
Ms. Chamberlain’s fundamental artistic belief is that sculpting is about expressing truth. Because of this, it is important for her work to capture, incorporate, and convey what she perceives in every moment. However, she believes that the perception of truth is both an internal and external process. What this means for Ms. Chamberlain’s work, is that her understanding of a piece, and the subsequent representations of that piece, are constantly in flux. Further, in order for her to illustrate truth in a sculpture, she is driven not only to communicate her interpretation of that truth, but also the truth of the model, the moment, and the piece itself. She believes that the essence of truth can only be found in the representation of all of these layers, which are equally real and valid.

While this goal for truth is personal for Ms. Chamberlain, she also hopes it will engage the viewer in conversation with her work. When one sees her art, she hopes that he or she will see not only a physical form, but also the energy and truth it embodies, and thus take away something new about art, and about the self. She strives to create pieces that impact the viewer’s ideas and feelings about beauty through this interpretation of truth, causing him or her to either confirm things within, or gain something new, in order to continue developing a greater sense of aesthetics. It is along this path of striving for truth, that Ms. Chamberlain hopes her work will reach museum quality, and thus impact people on a greater scale.
